Hail and Farewell
With this issue of the Green Plumbers Newsletter, we bid farewell to Green Plumbers president, Megan Lehtonen, who will continue to build the Green Plumbers brand internationally as the Director of Program Development at the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). Megan has spent the last several years working with municipalities, government agencies, and manufacturers to spread water conservation awareness, and will now use her experience to spread awareness of plumbing codes, health, safety and conservation on a global level.
We know the calendar still says spring, but it sure feels like summer is right around the corner. You can beat the heat and save water at the same time by following a few conservation tips from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Try to water your yard only in the evening or very early morning to minimize evaporation. If you're cooling off with a nice cold glass of water, consider keeping a gallon in the refrigerator instead of running the water until it gets to your preferred temperature. And when washing your car, the EPA suggests that you use a bucket and sponge instead of a hose.
Green Plumbers at WaterSmart Innovations 2010 Convention
We are now accepting early registrations for the Green Plumbers series of five workshops at the WaterSmart Innovations 2010 Convention in Las Vegas, NV from October 4-8. This will be our third year at WSI, and past attendees will tell you how great of a time it is. They might also tell you that it's an excellent opportunity to become a fully Accredited Green Plumber in all five workshops in just one week, registration gives you access to the WaterSmart Convention Exhibit Hall- where manufacturers showcase hundreds of water and energy conserving plumbing products, and Las Vegas in early October is ideal.
Early registrants will be invited to attend a plumbing marketing meeting that will focus on social media, online advertising vs. print advertising, managing the marketing to sales process, tracking your return on investment, and industry specific facts and tips. You can register for all five workshops and save $325 by clicking here, or click here to register for workshops individually.

Gerber Plumbing Fixtures and Green Plumbers Unite for Charity
Gerber Plumbing Fixtures LLC and Green Plumbers have come together to improve the community of Tuscon, Arizona by installing much-needed new plumbing for a local charity. The Ronald McDonald House improves the health and well-being of children, but it couldn't do that effectively with broken toilets. The Arizona Green Plumbers volunteered to install new toilets, paid for by the Gerber company's generous $17,100 donation. With gratitude, the Ronald McDonald House accepted the help and is now back on its feet. To read the full article, please click here.
