Greening the Midwest: Part 2
This month, Green Plumbers would like to highlight the accomplishments of Project Manager Paul Hallam, and his team at Mr. Plumber, a division of Williams Comfort Air. As the first Licensed Green Plumbers in Indiana, Mr. Plumber has spearheaded water and energy-saving initiatives in the area. Mr. Hallam explained that his early commitment to green plumbing stemmed from the water shortage problems his community was experiencing directly.
He commented, "Currently we are in the worst drought that we have been in since 1956. The municipalities are running short of water and are having to put outside watering bans in place to conserve water. By educating the public about water conservation on a regular basis, we can help drive home the point that the city is trying to make currently about water conservation."
As Licensed Green Plumbers, Mr. Plumber has the advantage of becoming a local leader in water conservation. "Your certification gives us the additional credibility to help us market this program. Green Plumbers USA will help us in approaching the municipalities in this area to bring awareness about water conservation," Mr. Hallam told Green Plumbers.
Green Plumbers is proud to be a part of Mr. Plumber's success and is confident that the company will continue to serve its community for years to come.

BlueGranola Blog: Sustainable Floor Tiles
Any Green Plumber is well-versed in how to conserve resources in a bathroom. But there are more ways than one to go about greening your bathroom, and you can start by choosing sustainable floor tiling. One of the most popular recycled tiling materials is glass because it's made from post-consumer waste, it's easy to maintain, and it's beautiful. That means that those bottles you’ve been recycling might make it back to your bathroom floor. If cost is an issue, however, consider mixing recycled and conventional materials but try not to sacrifice quality. A good tiling job could stay well-maintained for decades and when you aren’t re-doing it every few years that means you aren't contributing more waste to landfills.
Recycled stone is another great option because it does not affect indoor air quality and lasts a lifetime. ServiceMagic.com can provide some useful resources and ideas for getting started with a stone tiling project in your home. They suggest attempting to find local stone sources if at all possible, selecting a low-toxic sealer and, while tearing up your old flooring, trying to save and re-use whatever you can for the new project.
No time to re-do the bathroom? Send this article on to friends or customers who are renovating and spread the word about sustainability at home. The BlueGranola.com blog is jam-packed with more water conservation tips and sustainable information:
